Insulation

Regular Insulation
We insulated three exterior walls of a basement in Richmond Hill (Oxford St.). We made a proper framing all the way through that holds the insulation pieces and also for being a good support for structure; spray foamed all corners, around pipes and vents and also at the end of the joices in between; installed the insulation pieces (R 14 - only for under stairways R 20); put the vapour barrier and caulked all the edges and corners.

Attic door
We insulated the door of attic; put double of 2 inches rigid foams on top of each others (each represents R 10) and glued them to the door. Then, we installed a rubber (perimeter gasket) all around the door jamb of door to make it air-tight.

Exterior Door
We installed three insulated doors (metal skin, foam inside), for siding, cold room and basement. For each, first, we wrapped the frame by plastic cover and taped that to the existing interior and exterior barriers for making it moisture-free [+]. Before installing the door-jam, we put lines of silicon to seal the bottom part. Then, we leveled up and installed the door jam, put the door in place, foamed all the gapes and joints to make it totally air-tight.

At last, we made two strong shelves in the garage to organize the huge mess there!
